Il Sogno Americano!!

Chi credeva che il continente americano ci avesse regalato il solo,iconico nome di Tiffany nel panorama della gioielleria esclusiva mondiale si sbagliava di grosso!!

Voglio presentarvi un altro gigante d'oltreoceano,Harry Winston,il cui padre,Jacob Winston, emigrò dall'Ucraina nella "terra delle opportunità" nel lontano 1890 aprendo un negozio di vendita al dettaglio e riparazione di gioielli a Manhattan.

Secondo la tradizione il piccolo dimostrò presto la sua grande capacità nel riconoscere pietre preziose:alla sola età di 12 anni notò un anello di smeraldo da 2 carati,esposto su un vassoio in una vetrina di una agenzia di prestiti su pegno,lo pagò solamente 25 centesimi ma due giorni dopo lo rivendette per $800!!

Abbandonò la scuola a 15 anni per lavorare e dedicarsi a tempo pieno all'attività di famiglia e alla maggiore età grazie ad alcuni risparmi ottenuti dalla sua seconda impresa aperta in California,iniziò la carriera di imprenditore comprando e vendendo al New York Diamond Exchange.L'anno seguente aprì la propria prima compagnia col nome di The Premier Diamond Company,diventata poi nel 1932 la Harry Winston Inc., aumentando notevolmente il capitale della società nel giro di poco tempo,purtroppo però un dipendente scappò con tutti i soldi e l'inventario.

Il giovane non si perdette d'animo e con l'aiuto dei finanziamenti bancari riuscì a rientrare nel mercato tanto che divenne famoso per l'originalità con la quale reinventò con forme moderne e tornò a far risplendere vecchi gioielli provenienti dall'alta borghesia;nel 1930 si aggiudicò la famosa collezione delle miniere tycoon B.J "Lucky" Baldwin che includeva il più grande diamante mai venduto ad un asta pubblica negli Stati Uniti,da 39 carati taglio smeraldo e anche un rubino da 26 carati, fra i più grandi al mondo.

Le pazzie di Harry non finirono qui,più tardi,acquistò per 700 mila dollari il famosissimo Jonker Diamond(dal nome del suo trovatore Jacobus Jonker) da ben 726 carati,estratto da De Beers,con un unico scopo:dividere questo prezioso esemplare in tanti diamanti più piccoli da vendere, consapevole dell'enorme rischio e del conseguente fallimento che poteva derivarne.La difficoltà dell'impresa stimolò il magnate a rivolgersi prima ad un gruppo di esperti europei infine non soddisfatto ingaggiò un tagliatore di origine russa,un certo Lazare Kaplan,il quale dopo un attento anno di studio riuscì a ricavarne 12 diamanti:i risultati ottenuti fruttarono $ 2 milioni realizzando un profitto enorme.Da quel momento nessuno mise più in dubbio il talento e l'istinto di Mr. Winston!! 

Tantissimi furono i colpi di testa o di genio,se così vogliamo chiamarli,che lo accompagnarono nel corso della vita consacrandolo come "il re dei diamanti";aprì saloni a Parigi,Ginevra,Tokyo e Osaka oltre all'esclusiva boutique a Los Angeles frequentata solo dai grandi divi del cinema di Hollywood di ieri e di oggi.Dopo la sua morte l'impero passò in eredità ai figli,i quali tutt'ora continuano a tramandarne il nome e a conservane la qualità originaria!!

Godetevi lo spettacolo di una bellezza impossibile realizzata attraverso una maniacale cura del dettaglio effettuata su ogni singolo diamante abbinato alla magnificenza del platino per creazioni dallo stile regale ed etereo che trasmettono unicità!!

I want to introduce another giant overseas, Harry Winston,whose father,Jacob Winston, emigrated from Ukraine to the " land of opportunity " in 1890 by opening a retail shop and jewelry repair in Manhattan.

He left school at 15 to work and devote himself full time to the family business and in the age of majority thanks to some savings results from the second company opened in California,began his career as an entrepreneur by buying and selling on the New York Diamond Exchange.The following year he opened his first company by the name of the Premier Diamond Company , which later became in 1932 the Harry Winston Inc. , greatly increasing the company's capital in a short time,but unfortunately an employee ran off with all the money and inventory.

The young man did not lose heart and with the help of bank loans was able to return in the market so that he became famous for the originality to reinvented with modern forms and returned to give the light of old jewelry from the upper middle class, in 1930 he won the famous collection of mining tycoon BJ " Lucky" Baldwin , which included the largest diamond ever sold at a public auction in the United States, from 39 -carat emerald cut and a 26- carat ruby,among the largest in the world.

The crazy things Harry did not stop there,later,bought for $ 700,000 the famous Jonker Diamond ( named after its troubadour Jacobus Jonker ) from well 726 carats, extracted by De Beers,with a single purpose: to share this precious specimen in many smaller diamonds to sell, conscious of the enormous risk and the consequent failure that could be.The difficulty stimulated the tycoon to turn first to a group of European experts finally not satisfied hired a cutter of Russian origin,called Lazare Kaplan,which after a year of careful study,was able to obtain 12 diamonds: the results yielded $ 2 million,realizing a big profit.From that time no longer put in doubt the talent and instinct of Mr. Winston!!

Many were the head shots or genius, if we want to call them,who accompanied him throughout life consecrating him as the "King of Diamonds "; he opened salons in Paris,Geneva,Tokyo and Osaka as well as exclusive boutique in Los Angeles frequented only by the great movie stars of Hollywood past and modern. After his death the empire was inherited by his children,who still continue to pass down the name and the preservation of the original quality!!!

L'Etica Del Lusso!!

Il viaggio di Chopard verso il futuro continua in una direzione non più solo estetica ma soprattutto etica.La maison,lo scorso Maggio,ha creato la Green Carpet Collection(di solito Red Carpet Collection) entrata in scena per la prima volta in dosso alla bellissima ed elegante Marion Cotillard allo scorso Festival di Cannes e di recente sul tappeto rosso dei Golden Globe,nella persona di Cate Blanchett.

L'idea nasce dall'incontro delle volontà di Caroline Scheufele,Co-President di Chopard,e Livia Firth, fondatrice dell'associazione per lo sviluppo sostenibile e la diffusione delle energie alternative dal nome Eco Age,di incoraggiare le star e il mondo della moda a presentare un prodotto eco-compatibile in occasione di eventi esclusivi.

Si tratta infatti di alta gioielleria la cui produzione è supportata dalla ARM(Alleanza Per Miniere Responsabili) che si occupa di migliorare le condizioni e le sorti dei minatori artigianali e le cui materie prime,ad esempio i diamanti, sono estratti da fonti rintracciabili e rispettano gli standard imposti dal IGC Group,una delle firme storiche del settore.Inoltre l'oro utilizzato proviene dalle miniere del Sud America recanti la certificazione "Fair Mined" ciò significa che esso viene raffinato in una fonderia specializzata in materie prime del commercio equo: è la prima volta nella storia del brand.

Saranno Famosi!!

Innanzitutto mi presento:sono Valentina,vivo in Toscana,più precisamente a Pisa e ho una grande passione per la moda ma in particolare per i gioielli,che ho ereditato dalle mie favolose nonne.
A Settembre dello scorso anno ho deciso di aprire questo blog con un idea ben precisa:non presentarmi come la classica fashion blogger,nonostante le segua,piuttosto concentrarmi su una delle innumerevoli sfumature della moda,altrettanto importante e di rilievo quanto l'abbigliamento stesso:i gioielli. Lo scopo è proprio quello di focalizzarmi su un argomento in particolare,un campo specifico,che avrebbe fatto la differenza e che invogliasse il lettore ad accostarsi ad un mondo molto affascinante,in continua evoluzione e unisex.

Speciale Orologi:Dagli Albori A Quelli Meccanici!!

Inizia con questa prima puntata la rubrica dedicata esclusivamente all'orologeria dalle origini fino ai giorni nostri:dai must alle nuove tendenze!!

L'orologio è l'accessorio unisex per eccellenza oltre ad essere per la maggior parte delle persone  un oggetto irrinunciabile, è senza dubbio "il re" del polso!!
Viceversa alcuni non lo possiedono per i più svariati motivi!!

La sua storia comincia secoli e secoli fa quando l'esigenza connaturata nell'uomo di misurare il trascorrere del tempo, lo stimolò a creare da prima la meridiana, che risultò non soddisfacente poichè si limitava a funzionare solo con la luce solare lasciando scoperte le ore notturne e i periodi invernali;ciò contribuì ad inventare la clessidra a sabbia e tantissimi altri strumenti.

La svolta epocale,segnando un era innovativa, si ebbe tra il 1200 e il 1300 dove nei conventi  apparvero i primitivi orologi meccanici,ancora poco precisi,con lo scopo di scandire le ore di preghiera facendo suonare le campane;più tardi poi vennero dotati di lancette e quadranti quelli presenti sui campanili e sulle torri civiche,azionati da grossi ingranaggi e pesi:il primato si deve all'Inghilterra subito seguita dall'Italia.

Nacquero,poi, gli orologi a pendolo grazie alla scoperta dell'isocronismo del pendolo di Galileo Galilei adatti a postazioni fisse e non mobili.Successivamente nel 1675 l'olandese Huygens inventò il sistema a bilanciere capace di una precisione cronometrica, che fu installato per i modelli da taschino,quindi portatili,chiamati in gergo "cipolle".

Infine tra il 1800 e il 1900 si fece prepotentemente largo nel mercato oramai in continuo sviluppo l'orologio da polso per merito del francese Jean Adrien Patek- Philippe,introducendo la corona di carica e regolazione e aprendo la creatività a infinite soluzioni per quanto riguardava soprattutto la forma del quadrante.Fu appannaggio inizialmente soltanto del gentil sesso ma nei primi anni del Novecento Louis Cartier ne costruì uno su richiesta dell' amico,l'aviatore brasiliano Dumont,il quale desiderava un segnatempo più pratico da leggere in volo del classico tipo da tasca,affermandosi così "il gioiello"  per antonomasia indossato dall' uomo.

Ufficialmente da quel momento in poi la tecnologia divenne sempre più complessa e specifica senza mai soppiantare le precedenti invenzioni ma migliorandole via via col tempo sia dal punto di vista tecnico che artistico-estetico,una fusione perfetta fra quantità e qualità!!

Officially, from that moment on, the technology became increasingly complex and specific without ever supplant the earlier inventions but improving them gradually over time from both a technical and artistic beauty,a perfect fusion between the quantity and quality!!
